In 1991, I started the Elite Golf Group. It was a small school, with only 2 national locations. A lot has changed since then, a wife, two boys, a lot of ups and downs in the golf industry, and a global recession. But teaching the game of golf has stayed a constant in my life. Today I run over 80 worldwide golf schools and a golf teachers training program. Along with many private and a full time schedule working with PGA Tour Player Bo Van Pelt.
The United States Golf Schools Junior Academy was launched in 2008.
I have been blessed with two wonderful boys. Golf has been a big part of mine and their growing up years. I have learned a lot about junior golf from them, and if I would have had a program like the Parent Child Golf School, it might have been a little easier. I might not have been so hard, had not have pushed so much, I might have been a little more gentle, enjoying them more as little boys, understanding that they grow up way to fast.
I got lucking because I could have done a lot of things better. They both have turned into wonderful young men, along with winning junior golf championships along the way. The being wonderful young men part means the most to me. I’m proud to say they are my best friends and not many Dads can say that about their 14 and 15 year old sons or daughters. I think they would say the same about me. This program will teach you how to develop a bond and respect for each other through golf.
My knowledge of the golf swing was second to none, but working with children was not like working with PGA Tour Players or LPGA Tour Players. I expected too much too fast looking back and this was dead wrong. Respect, enjoyment and fundamentals are what will take your child to the next level if that is where they want to go. Use golf as an avenue to spend quality time with your child, who knows has good they can get if you give them the correct practice habits in a gentle caring way. I have seen so many parents upset with their kids at golf tournament because there kid played bad. Well first, this is wrong, secondly what do they expect, the kid doesn’t know how to practice correctly and the parent has no idea how to show them. That is what the Parent Child Golf Schools will teach you and your child.
This program will teach you to enjoy the time you have with your child, giving them the best chance to grow as a person and golfer at their own pace, not yours. We will teach you how not to burn them out and ruin that parent child relationship. Because if your too hard it will destroy that bond that we all look for in a parent child relationship.
If a golf scholarship comes from your time with your child then great. If they turn pro then great, it is a bonus. But our goal at Parent Child Golf Schools is to help you learn to spend quality time building a relationship that will last a life time with your child doing something you both enjoy. As well as improving both of your golf games.
In the early years, I traveled the country working with many different golf schools and many great instructors.
